One instructor, 24 ukuleles and a really good time!

I offer in-person or virtual programs for any age, teaching participants (ages 8 and older) how to hold, tune, strum, fret, read chords and play songs.

"I've been hiring Julie for nearly a decade and always earmark money in my programming budget for her because she's my favorite performer.  Be it a concert or uke lessons, everyone who attends leaves happy.  Her music and energy radiate a free-spirited joyfulness that is contagious.  Julie has exceptional communication skills, is reliable, offers fair pricing, will adapt to any circumstance and always draws a crowd.  She is a librarian's dream!"

"Our patrons are constantly asking when we will have Julie back at the Farmington Libraries to share the joys of the ukulele! Her gentle and warm approach disarms even the most hesitant learners. She is also remarkably flexible, teaching anyone from age 3 to 93, in large or small groups. I highly recommend Julie, she is a pleasure to work with."

Leah Farrell, MLIS Community Services and Media Coordinator Farmington Libraries, Farmington Connecticut

"Julie presented her Learn Ukulele program here at our library in March of 2020. 35 people attended, with a waiting list, and she had many positive reviews. Her in-person class is great because it gives people a chance to try out this very accessible instrument. It’s also a lot of fun. In addition, Julie subsequently presented for us several virtual programs for various age groups which were also well received.  Julie is an excellent teacher, well organized, and a pleasure to work with."

"Julie Stepanek has been a regular presenter at Storrs Library since her debut here wowed our patrons with her enthusiastic and encouraging teaching style. Julie’s broad smile and melodious voice encouraged all the participants to strum and have a rollicking sing-along! Her musical talent and easy-going temperament make her a delight to work with and a favorite of our patrons! Ukulele lessons are often requested and enthusiastically attended at Storrs Library, Julie is quite a jewel!"
